Our Story
Hello Tribe! I am Kristen Daryl. My daughter Zuri and I would love to formally welcome you to Zuzu's Tribe!
I was so excited in 2020 to learn that I was going to be a new mother to a little girl. Immediately, I started shopping for all the play things I couldn't wait to shower her with. I learned very quickly that there is a large gap in the doll industry representative of black girls and boys. I realized if I was looking for beautiful black doll babies, other moms also had to be. At the time, I was struggling to find my purpose, and then a light bulb went off- I could bridge the gap between multicultural play and representation, while being a positive example of a female entrepreneur to Zuri.
This was the inspiration and drive behind Zuzu's Tribe! I have designed beautiful hand-crafted dolls to celebrate BLACK GIRL MAGIC and (coming soon) BLACK BOY JOY! Each doll, with their own story, cultural identity and dreams, represents the beauty, diversity and positive impact black children have on the world.

Here at Zuzu's Tribe, we don't only celebrate our diversity through play, we encourage our Tribe members to understand the strong impact they have on the world, and we do that by making positive changes right in our communities.
'Reach Back Pull Forward' is an incentive that motivates Tribe members to shop with a cause. For every doll purchased, 5% off the sale goes directly to The WesGold Fellows, a non-profit organization based in the city that made me, Philadelphia. Wes Gold provides is a highly intensive and rewarding summer internship program focusing on personal and professional development through finance, real estate & entrepreneurship. Over the course of eight weeks, high school students are guided through curriculum based instruction, experiential learning opportunities, uniquely engaging field trips, and professional development training.
It's truly a blessing, privilege and duty to strengthen our community by positively shaping the young innovative minds that are our future. Zuzu's Tribe supports WesGold Fellows as they develop into our next generation of leaders who will Engage, Impact and Grow our economy.
